How to convert HEIC to JPG on a Mac
Drop the photos on Convert Images and choose JPEG. It converts a whole batch at once, keeps each photo's date and location, and runs on your Mac. Preview can export one photo at a time; OneMacTools does folders.
Steps
- Open OneMacTools › Convert Images, or select photos in Finder and choose Quick Actions › OMT: Convert Images to JPEG.
- Choose JPEG and a quality (high keeps them looking the same).
- Click Convert. The JPGs land in Downloads › OneMacTools.
Automatically, every time
Make a Watch Folder: pick a folder (like Downloads › From iPhone) and Convert Images to JPEG, and every new HEIC photo that lands there is converted.
Do it with OneMacTools
Questions
Why are iPhone photos HEIC?
HEIC is about half the size of JPG at the same quality. Some websites and Windows apps still don't open it, which is why people convert.
Does converting lose the photo's date and location?
Not with OneMacTools: the date, camera and location are kept unless you choose to remove them.
