# How to convert HEIC to JPG on a Mac

Drop the photos on Convert Images and choose JPEG. It converts a whole batch at once, keeps each photo's date and location, and runs on your Mac. Preview can export one photo at a time; OneMacTools does folders.

## Steps
1. Open OneMacTools › Convert Images, or select photos in Finder and choose Quick Actions › OMT: Convert Images to JPEG.
2. Choose JPEG and a quality (high keeps them looking the same).
3. Click Convert. The JPGs land in Downloads › OneMacTools.

## Automatically, every time
Make a Watch Folder: pick a folder (like Downloads › From iPhone) and Convert Images to JPEG, and every new HEIC photo that lands there is converted.

## Questions
**Why are iPhone photos HEIC?**
HEIC is about half the size of JPG at the same quality. Some websites and Windows apps still don't open it, which is why people convert.

**Does converting lose the photo's date and location?**
Not with OneMacTools: the date, camera and location are kept unless you choose to remove them.
