How much space do Cursor, Claude and ChatGPT take on your Mac?

AI apps keep four kinds of data: caches and logs (safe to clear), chat history and sessions (yours, so decide), downloaded models and virtual machines (downloaded again when needed), and settings (keep). Leftovers of AI apps you've deleted can be removed entirely.

Where it hides

Editors like Cursor and Windsurf keep large databases and per-project data in Application Support. Claude's desktop app keeps a virtual machine for running code. Claude Code and Codex keep session transcripts in hidden folders in your home folder. Ollama and LM Studio keep models that are often several gigabytes each.

See it all with AI Space

  1. Open OneMacTools › AI Space. Each AI app gets a card with its total size.
  2. Open a card to see every folder labelled Cache, Logs, Chat history, Downloads again, App data or Leftover.
  3. Caches and logs are ticked for you; chat history and models are your call; settings are never offered.
  4. Move to Trash. Apps that are open have their caches locked until you quit them.

Questions

Is it safe to delete Claude Code's projects folder?

It holds your session transcripts, used to resume conversations. Deleting old projects is safe if you won't resume them; the current session's history goes too.

Will deleting Ollama models break Ollama?

No, but you'll need to download a model again to use it. Removing unused ones with “ollama rm” or AI Space frees the space.
