# Social Video Presets — Resize video for Instagram Reels, TikTok and YouTube Shorts on Mac

Reformat a video for Reels, TikTok, Shorts, Instagram, YouTube, X or WhatsApp. Part of OneMacTools, 151 private tools in one native Mac app (macOS 26 or later); category: Video. Runs on your Mac; nothing is uploaded.

Pick a platform and get the right size and frame rate, with a blurred background instead of black bars (or crop to fill). Videos are trimmed to platform limits, like 2:20 for X and 1:00 for WhatsApp Status.

## How to use it
1. **Install FFmpeg once.** If it isn't installed, OneMacTools offers to install FFmpeg through Homebrew with one click.
2. **Drop your videos.** Add the clip you want to post. Landscape, portrait and square videos all work.
3. **Choose the platform.** Pick Reels / TikTok / Shorts, Instagram post, Square, YouTube, X / Twitter or WhatsApp Status in the right-hand panel.
4. **Choose how it fits.** Blurred background fills the empty space with a blurred copy of the video, Crop to fill cuts the edges off, and Black bars adds plain bars.
5. **Click Make.** Each video is resized for the platform and saved as an MP4, with the platform in its name, in a new dated folder in Downloads › OneMacTools. Watch it with the Preview (eye) button or Show in Finder. The original is untouched.

## Options
- **For:** Reels / TikTok / Shorts (9:16) at 1080×1920, Instagram post (4:5) at 1080×1350, Square (1:1) at 1080×1080, YouTube (16:9) at 1920×1080, X / Twitter (16:9, up to 2:20) at 1280×720, or WhatsApp Status (9:16, up to 1:00) at 720×1280.
- **Fit:** Blurred background (the default) shows the whole video over a blurred, zoomed copy of itself. Crop to fill zooms in until there are no gaps, cutting off the edges. Black bars shows the whole video with plain black bars.

## Tips
- Blurred background is the best way to post a landscape video as a Reel or Short without losing anything at the sides.
- Use Crop to fill when the subject is in the middle of the frame and you want it as big as possible.
- X / Twitter and WhatsApp Status videos are cut at 2:20 and 1:00. Trim the best part yourself first so the cut lands where you want it.
- Make one version per platform from the same original rather than converting a converted copy, so quality stays high.
- Most people watch social video muted. Add captions with Auto Subtitles after reformatting.

## Questions
**How do I resize a video for Instagram Reels or TikTok?**
Drop it onto Social Video Presets, choose Reels / TikTok / Shorts (9:16) and click Make. You get a 1080×1920 MP4 ready to upload.

**How do I post a landscape video as a Reel without cropping it?**
Choose Reels / TikTok / Shorts with Fit set to Blurred background. The whole video sits in the middle with a blurred copy filling the top and bottom.

**What size should an Instagram feed video be?**
4:5 portrait at 1080×1350 fills the most space in the feed. Choose Instagram post (4:5).

**Why was my video cut short?**
X / Twitter allows up to 2 minutes 20 seconds and WhatsApp Status up to 1 minute, so longer videos are cut at that point. Trim the part you want first to choose what's kept.

**Should I choose blurred background, crop or black bars?**
Blurred background keeps the whole picture and looks polished. Crop to fill makes the subject bigger but loses the edges. Black bars is the plainest option.

**Can I make versions for several platforms?**
Yes. Run the tool once for each platform on the same original; each result has the platform in its name.
