## How to use it
1. **Install FFmpeg once.** The first time, OneMacTools offers to install FFmpeg through Homebrew with one click.
2. **Drop your videos.** Add one clip or a whole batch you want silent.
3. **Click Mute.** There's nothing to set. The soundtrack is removed and the picture is copied as it is.
4. **Use the silent copy.** Copies ending in “muted” are saved in a new dated folder in Downloads › OneMacTools. Check them with the Preview (eye) button or Show in Finder. Your originals still have their sound.

## Options
- **No options:** Mute Video has nothing to set. It removes every audio track and copies the picture without re-encoding it.

## Tips
- Because the picture isn't re-encoded, muting is fast and there's no quality loss at all.
- To keep the sound separately before you remove it, run Extract Audio on the original first.
- To swap the sound for music or a voice-over instead of silence, use Replace Audio.
- The muted copy keeps the original format, so a MOV stays a MOV and an MKV stays an MKV.

## Questions
**How do I remove the sound from a video on a Mac?**
Drop it onto Mute Video and click Mute. A silent copy is saved alongside your other results, and the original keeps its sound.

**Does muting a video reduce its quality?**
No. The picture is copied exactly as it is, only the audio is dropped.

**Why is it so quick?**
Nothing is re-encoded. The video stream is copied straight into a new file without the audio.

**Will the file get smaller?**
A little, by the size of the soundtrack. To make it much smaller, run Compress Video on the muted copy.

**Can I mute only part of a video?**
Not with Mute Video, which removes all the sound. Trim out the part you want silent, mute it, and join the pieces with Merge Videos.
