## How to use it
1. **Drop the recording.** Add an audio or video recording of a meeting, call or interview. Several recordings each get their own notes.
2. **Set the language.** In the right-hand panel, set Language to the language spoken in the meeting.
3. **Choose the transcript.** Leave Also save the full transcript on to keep a word-for-word record alongside the notes.
4. **Click Make Notes.** The recording is transcribed on your Mac with Apple's speech recognition. Apple Intelligence's on-device model then writes the notes; long meetings are summarised in parts and then combined.
5. **Share the notes.** A Markdown file, “<recording> notes.md”, is saved in a new dated folder in Downloads › OneMacTools, with the transcript next to it if you kept that on. Open it with the Preview (eye) button or Show in Finder.

## Options
- **Language:** System language, the default, uses your Mac's language. You can also choose Chinese, English (India), English (UK), English (US), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese or Spanish.
- **Also save the full transcript:** On by default. Saves “<recording> transcript.txt” next to the notes. Turn it off to keep only the notes. When Apple Intelligence is off, the transcript is always saved, because no notes can be written.

## Tips
- Check action items and owners before sending the notes. An owner appears only when a name was said, and a task can be given to the wrong person.
- Keep the transcript for important meetings, so you can check exactly what was said behind any decision.
- Put the microphone close to the people talking. Crosstalk and echoey rooms are hard to transcribe.
- Use Record Audio to record an in-person meeting on your Mac, then drop the recording here.
- Ask everyone's permission before you record a meeting or call.

## Questions
**How do I get AI meeting notes from a recording on a Mac?**
Drop the recording onto Meeting Notes, choose the language and click Make Notes. It's transcribed and summarised on your Mac, and you get notes with a summary, decisions and action items.

**What's in the meeting notes?**
A two-to-four-sentence summary, key decisions, action items as checkboxes with an owner when one was named, and open questions. A section with nothing in it says “None”.

**Can I use it with a recording of a video call?**
Yes, if you have the recording as an audio or video file, such as M4A or MP4. Drop it in like any other recording.

**Does it know who said what?**
No. The transcript doesn't label speakers. Owners appear in action items only when a name was spoken, as in “Priya will send the draft”.

**How accurate are the notes?**
They summarise the transcript, so clear audio gives better notes. Read the decisions and action items before you share them, because AI can miss or misattribute a point.

**Can I edit the notes?**
Yes. They're a plain Markdown text file, so you can open and edit them in TextEdit or any text editor before sharing.
