## How to use it
1. **Drop a folder.** Drag in the folder to scan. Your home folder is a good place to start; Downloads, Movies and Documents are the usual culprits.
2. **Set the size.** Choose the smallest file to list: 50 MB, 100 MB, 500 MB or 1 GB.
3. **Choose how many.** Show the Top 25, the Top 100 or All of them.
4. **Click Find.** Every file in the folder and its sub-folders is checked. You see how many large files there are, their total size and the biggest one.
5. **Read the list.** A “Large files” spreadsheet (CSV) is saved in a new dated folder in Downloads › OneMacTools, biggest first, with sizes, dates and locations. Open it with the Preview (eye) button or in Numbers.

## Options
- **Bigger than:** 50 MB, 100 MB, 500 MB or 1 GB, 100 MB by default. Only files at least this big are listed. Start at 1 GB on a full disk to find the biggest wins quickly.
- **Show:** Top 25, Top 100 or All, Top 100 by default. How many files go into the list, biggest first. The summary always counts every file over the size you chose.

## Tips
- Old videos, disk images (.dmg), installers and virtual machines are usually the largest files on a Mac.
- Large Files Finder only lists files. Nothing is moved or deleted, so delete what you don't need yourself in Finder.
- Copy a file's path from the list and use Go › Go to Folder in Finder to jump straight to it.
- Videos you want to keep can often be made much smaller with Compress Video instead of deleted.
- Look at the Modified column. Big files you haven't touched in years are the safest to archive or remove.

## Questions
**How do I find large files on a Mac?**
Drop a folder, such as your home folder, onto Large Files Finder, choose a minimum size and click Find. You get a list of the biggest files with where they are.

**What's taking up space on my Mac?**
Scan your home folder with Bigger than set to 1 GB. Old videos, disk images, installers and backups usually top the list.

**Does Large Files Finder delete files?**
No. It only makes a list. Decide what to remove and delete it yourself in Finder, or compress big videos with Compress Video.

**Can I scan my whole Mac?**
Scan your home folder for your own files, which is where almost all the space you can free lives. Hidden system files are skipped.

**Why doesn't it show my Photos library?**
The Photos library is a package, and files inside it aren't listed, because they should be managed in the Photos app rather than deleted in Finder.

**Can I open the list in a spreadsheet?**
Yes. It's a CSV file, so it opens in Numbers or Excel, where you can sort and filter it.
