## How to use it
1. **Drop your images.** Drag in iPhone HEIC photos, screenshots, WebP or RAW files, or a whole batch at once. To skip the app, select them in Finder, right-click and choose Quick Actions › OMT: Convert Images to JPEG.
2. **Pick the format.** Choose JPEG for sharing and Windows, PNG for screenshots and graphics, HEIC or AVIF to save space, or TIFF for print and archiving.
3. **Click Convert.** Every file is converted in one go, with its orientation applied so nothing comes out sideways.
4. **Open the copies.** The converted copies are saved in a new dated folder in Downloads › OneMacTools. Use the Preview (eye) button to check them or Show in Finder to open the folder. Your originals stay as they were.

## Options
- **Format:** The format every copy is saved in: PNG, JPEG, HEIC, AVIF or TIFF. JPEG, HEIC and AVIF are saved at a high quality setting (90%). PNG and TIFF are lossless, so they look identical to the source but are much larger for photos.

## Tips
- Choose JPEG when the photos are going to someone on Windows, an older Android phone or a website form. It opens everywhere.
- Use PNG for screenshots, diagrams and anything with sharp text. JPEG blurs hard edges slightly and can't keep transparency.
- To save disk space on a big photo collection, convert to HEIC or AVIF. Check that the apps and people you share with can open them first.
- Converted copies keep the date taken, camera details and location. Run Remove Metadata on the copies if you're sharing them and don't want those to travel.
- Need WebP for a website? Use Convert to WebP, which has its own quality and lossless settings.

## Questions
**How do I convert HEIC to JPG on a Mac?**
Drop the HEIC photos onto Convert Images, choose JPEG and click Convert. Or select them in Finder, right-click and choose Quick Actions › OMT: Convert Images to JPEG to do it without opening the app.

**Why won't my iPhone photos open on Windows?**
iPhones save photos as HEIC, which older Windows PCs and many websites can't read. Converting them to JPEG makes them open everywhere.

**What happens to transparency when I save as JPEG?**
JPEG can't store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white rather than black. Choose PNG, HEIC or TIFF to keep them transparent.

**Can I convert WebP or RAW files to JPEG or PNG?**
Yes. Convert Images reads WebP, camera RAW, GIF, BMP and the other formats macOS understands, and saves them as PNG, JPEG, HEIC, AVIF or TIFF.

**Should I convert to HEIC or AVIF to save space?**
Both make photos much smaller than JPEG at the same visual quality. HEIC is the safer choice on Apple devices; AVIF is better supported by modern web browsers.

**Does converting keep the date and location of my photos?**
Yes. Converted copies keep the date taken, camera details and GPS location, and the picture is saved upright. To share them without those details, run them through Remove Metadata.

**Will converting a JPEG to PNG improve its quality?**
No. PNG is lossless, so it keeps the JPEG exactly as it is, including any compression artefacts, in a larger file. It's only worth it if you plan to edit and re-save the image several times.
