## How to use it
1. **Drop your audio files.** Drag in one file or a whole album: MP3, M4A, WAV, FLAC, AIFF and other audio formats.
2. **Pick the format.** Choose MP3, M4A, WAV or FLAC in the panel on the right.
3. **Click Convert.** Every file is converted in one go and keeps its name, with the new extension.
4. **Open the copies.** They're saved in a new dated folder in Downloads › OneMacTools. Play them with the Preview (eye) button or use Show in Finder. Your originals stay as they were.

## Options
- **Format:** MP3, M4A, WAV or FLAC. MP3 (high-quality variable bit rate) plays on anything. M4A (192 kbps AAC) suits iPhone, iPad and Apple Music. WAV (16-bit) is uncompressed and best for editing. FLAC is lossless but about half the size of WAV, good for archiving music.

## Tips
- Converting from MP3 or M4A to WAV or FLAC doesn't bring back lost quality. It just makes a bigger file of the same sound.
- Keep your lossless files (WAV, FLAC, AIFF) as the master copies and convert from those whenever you need MP3 or M4A.
- Avoid converting MP3 to M4A or back again repeatedly. Each lossy conversion loses a little more detail.
- FLAC files don't play everywhere on Apple devices. Convert them to M4A for an iPhone or a car stereo.
- If an editor or video app is fussy about a file, converting it to WAV almost always fixes it.

## Questions
**How do I convert WAV to MP3 on a Mac?**
Drop the WAV files onto Convert Audio, choose MP3 and click Convert. The MP3s are usually around a tenth of the size.

**How do I play FLAC files on an iPhone?**
Convert them to M4A with Convert Audio. M4A plays in the Music app and on every Apple device.

**Which audio format should I choose?**
MP3 if it must play everywhere, M4A for Apple devices, WAV for editing and FLAC for a lossless archive that takes less space than WAV.

**Does converting MP3 to FLAC improve the quality?**
No. The detail an MP3 threw away can't be recovered. A FLAC made from an MP3 sounds the same but is much larger.

**Can I convert a whole folder of songs at once?**
Yes. Drop all the files in together and they're converted in one batch, each keeping its own name.

**What bit rate are the MP3 and M4A files?**
MP3s use high-quality variable bit rate, typically around 190 kbps. M4A files are AAC at 192 kbps.
