# How to convert MOV to MP4 on a Mac

Drop the videos on Convert Video and choose MP4, or select them in Finder and use Quick Actions › OMT: Convert Video to MP4. It converts a whole batch on your Mac into new copies; the originals stay as they are.

## Steps
1. Select the MOV files in Finder, then right-click › Quick Actions › OMT: Convert Video to MP4. Or open OneMacTools › Convert Video and drop them in.
2. In the app, choose MP4 as the format.
3. Click Convert. The MP4s land in Downloads › OneMacTools, and the originals are untouched.

## When the file is too big to send
Converting keeps the quality. To fit an email or chat limit, use Compress Video to Size instead: give it 25 MB, say, and it makes the best-looking MP4 that fits.

## Every time, automatically
Make a Watch Folder for the folder where screen recordings or AirDropped videos land, with Convert Video to MP4. Each new video is converted as it arrives.

## Questions
**Is MOV worse than MP4?**
Not in quality: both are containers, often with the same video inside. MP4 simply opens in more places, like Windows, Android and many websites.

**Does converting reduce the quality?**
OneMacTools converts at high quality. If you also need a smaller file, Compress Video or Compress Video to Size trade a little quality for size.

**Can I convert many videos at once?**
Yes. Drop a whole folder; they're converted one after another and you can keep working.
